The Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology<\/a> (ICAC-CERCA) is a CERCA center established as a consortium in 2003 by the Government of Catalonia and the Rovira i Virgili University. It is a leading institution in the research and conservation of archaeological heritage in Catalonia. It is based in Tarragona, a city recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2000. Its researchers work to understand the past through the study of archaeological remains and promote the preservation of the rich historical heritage of the region. \n

The Landscape Archaeology Research Group (GIAP)<\/a> of the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology (ICAC) was founded in 2004. It aims to study long-term human-environment interactions through the physical and biological imprints left on the landscape by its past inhabitants. In order to do so, GIAP has a strong interdisciplinary approach, which includes bioarchaeology and palaeoenvironment, geoarchaeology, survey, archaeomorphological analysis and computational approaches, including GIS, remote sensing and machine learning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

The Association for Environmental Archaeology (AEA)<\/a> was formed in 1979 by a group of environmental archaeologists based at the University of London, to provide a wide-ranging means of communication between those working in environmental archaeology and related subjects. The Association seeks to promote environmental archaeology worldwide and provide a voice to those working within the discipline, inputting into debates and polices that affect the field, and demonstrating the relevance of environmental archaeology to people and the planet. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
